About the work

I grew up on Long Island, which means I grew up around boats — the way they sit in a harbor at dusk, the way a spinnaker catches the light on a broad reach, the particular quiet of a mooring field early in the morning. Most of my photography starts there, on or near the water along the North Shore.

The rest of it follows wherever life goes. Boston for school and for sport — Fenway, the Charles, the Prudential Skywalk at night. Stadiums and arenas across the country, from the Garden to Mile High to Gaylord Family. Israel for the ancient light and the layered history that makes every frame feel like it means something.

I shoot what's in front of me, mostly. No heavy edits, no constructed scenes — just an eye for where the light is doing something, and the patience to wait for it. The camera is secondary to the moment.

And then there's Kai — my loyal, fun-loving, adventurous German Shepherd, my best friend, and the first member and lieutenant of my pack. He's right there beside me on some of the best shots on this site, whether that means padding down to the water's edge at sunrise or riding shotgun on the way to wherever the light leads next. The site is named for him, and honestly, he's earned it.

I also write — music criticism, field notes, things that don't fit in a frame. That work lives alongside the photography here because they come from the same place.
